Why Fire Resistance Matters in Gypsum Boards
Ordinary gypsum boards start to degrade when temperatures exceed 200°C. By 500°C, the crystal water evaporates, and the board loses structural integrity.
Fireproof boards work differently. Special fire-resistant fibers and inorganic additives form a protective barrier. When exposed to heat, the board releases water vapor (which absorbs energy) while the additives create a char layer that insulates the underlying material.
The result: the board maintains its structure for 30 to 120 minutes, depending on the formulation.
