Product Overview: Gentle Handling at High Speed

This case packer uses servo-controlled gripper heads instead of drop packing. Drop packers simply open a gate and let bottles fall into a case. That works for cans but chips glass necks and distorts lightweight PET. Our gripper heads lift rows of containers, move them horizontally on linear rails, then lower them with controlled descent into the carton. The machine cycles at 800 to 2,000 cases per hour. Changeover from single-layer to two-layer packing happens via touch screen, and the partition inserter runs automatically.

Gripper face material 

Each gripper uses replaceable silicone rubber pads with FDA-grade certification. Glass requires friction without point pressure; PET needs broad contact to avoid denting. Frame construction

1. What defines a grab automatic packing machine?

It is a case packer that uses mechanical grippers to pick rows of containers from your conveyor and place them into shipping cartons. Unlike drop packers that simply release bottles to fall into a case, grab packers lower containers gently. This prevents glass chipping, label scratching, and PET denting. The machine handles single or two-layer patterns, inserts cardboard partitions automatically, and changes over via touch screen. Typical buyers are beverage bottlers and canned food plants running 100+ containers per minute.

2. How does the gripper avoid crushing containers?

Each gripper head has soft silicone pads that conform to the container surface, spreading force evenly. The clamping pressure is servo-controlled, not fixed by air regulator. You select the container type on the HMI. The servo then applies a precise force – low for thin PET, high for glass. The system also detects missing containers in a row. If a position is empty, that gripper stays open, preventing mis-picks. This missing-bottle detection cuts jam rates by 80% compared to old pneumatic grippers.

3. Grab packer vs drop packer vs manual – what are the real differences?

Drop packers cost less upfront but break 1–3% of glass bottles because of the free fall. Manual packing requires 10–15 people per line, and case counts vary by shift. 4. Can one machine handle different bottle shapes and case sizes?

Yes. The PLC stores up to 50 recipes. Switching from a 330ml glass bottle to a 1L PET bottle means selecting the new recipe on the touch screen. The servo-driven grippers automatically adjust their open width. Conveyor guides also reposition with motorized adjustment if you add that option. Changing case size – for example, from a 12-bottle case to a 24-bottle case – takes about 10 minutes. You simply adjust the partition magazine width and confirm the new case dimensions on the screen. No tools required for most changes.

5. What happens when a bottle tips over before the gripper arrives?

The machine has a row straightener just before the pick station. Spring-loaded side guides realign bottles as they enter. A photoelectric sensor checks each row position. If a bottle is tilted beyond 15 degrees, the infeed belt stops and an alarm sounds. An operator removes the fallen bottle and restarts. This event occurs roughly once every four to six hours in normal operation – far less often than drop packers, which jam constantly when bottles are misaligned. We also include a manual reject button to clear a bad row without stopping the entire line.
